FAQ

What exactly is included in the Steelvex 180-in-1 kit?

The Steelvex kit is a complete electronics repair station with 182 items, organised in a foldable cyber-style case ready for your next repair.

162 precision bits:

  • 144 CR-V (Chrome Vanadium) standard bits — H4×28mm, HRC 52-58, black phosphate finish
  • 4 S-2 Steel extended bits — H4×45mm, for hard-to-reach screws
  • 14 sockets — M2.5 to M5.5 plus G3.8/G4.5 imperial

Bit types covered: Phillips, Slotted, Torx, Torx Security, Hex, Pentalobe (Apple), Tri-wing, Pozidriv, Square (Robertson), JIS, SIM eject, plus 5 extractor bits for damaged or stripped screws.

20 accessories:

  • 1 magnetic handle (PP+TPR ergonomic grip)
  • 1 stainless steel extension bar (100mm)
  • 2 stainless steel tweezers (pointed + angled)
  • 1 suction cup for screen removal (48mm)
  • 2 plastic pry bars (POM, 82mm)
  • 5 pentagonal pry pieces + 5 ultra-thin pry pieces (POM, for safe casing opening)
  • 1 magnetiser / demagnetiser
  • 2 adapters (4mm ↔ 1/4") for compatibility with other precision tools

The case folds open in 5 sections for easy access — no digging through a bag of loose bits.

Will the bits work with my devices?

Yes. The 162 bits cover every common screw type found in modern consumer electronics — including Phillips, Slotted, Torx, Torx Security, Pentalobe (Apple), Tri-wing (Y-type), Hex, Pozidriv, JIS (Japanese), Square (Robertson), and SIM eject pins.

The kit is designed for:

  • Phones & tablets — iPhone, Samsung, Pixel, iPad
  • Laptops & MacBooks — all major brands
  • Gaming consoles — PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch
  • Smartwatches — Apple Watch, Garmin, traditional watches
  • Wearables — AirPods, headphones, fitness trackers
  • Eyeglasses, drones, cameras, remote controls, and small home appliances

For damaged or stripped screws, the kit includes 5 extractor bits (EX#6 to EX#10) — a feature usually found only in professional repair sets.

If you have a specific device in mind, contact us at support@steelvex.co.uk and we'll confirm compatibility.

Are the bits durable enough for tough or stripped screws?

Yes. The bits use industry-standard CR-V (Chrome Vanadium) steel with HRC 52-58 hardness and a black phosphate coating for corrosion resistance — the right balance of hardness and toughness for precision electronics work.

CR-V is the standard material for precision repair tools — hard enough to grip rusted or over-tightened screws, but tough enough not to snap under torque. For the most demanding situations (stripped screw heads), the kit includes 5 dedicated extractor bits (EX#6 to EX#10).

The 4 extended bits (H4×45mm) are made from harder S-2 Steel for hard-to-reach screws that need extra torque.

If a bit fails under normal repair use within 30 days of purchase, contact us at support@steelvex.co.uk and we'll replace it free of charge.

Can I use these bits with my power drill or electric screwdriver?

No, the kit is not designed for power drills or impact drivers.

The kit includes two adapters for compatibility with other manual tools:

  • 4mm-to-1/4" adapter — lets you use Steelvex bits in a manual 1/4" hex tool (ratcheting screwdriver, T-handle driver, bit holder pen)
  • 1/4"-to-4mm adapter — lets you use any standard 1/4" bit in the Steelvex magnetic handle

Both adapters are designed for hand-applied torque, not for power tools. In a drill or impact driver, the bits and adapters can spin loose or break — precision bits are not engineered for the rotational stress of power tools.

If you need bits for a power drill, look for impact-rated 1/4" hex bits with a retention groove. This kit is a precision hand tool — designed for control, not torque.

Can I use the bits with other precision screwdriver handles I already own?

Yes. The Steelvex bits use a standard 4mm hex shank (H4) — the industry standard for precision driver handles. They're compatible with virtually any precision tool system that accepts 4mm bits.

The kit also includes two adapters for cross-system compatibility:

  • 4mm-to-1/4" — use Steelvex bits in any manual 1/4" hex tool
  • 1/4"-to-4mm — use any standard 1/4" bit in the Steelvex magnetic handle

This means the kit integrates into your existing tool collection rather than replacing it.

Is this a good gift?

Yes. The Steelvex kit is a practical gift for anyone who repairs, builds, or tinkers — phone and laptop hobbyists, drone and camera owners, watch enthusiasts, and DIY home-repair fans.

The 182-piece kit covers practically every screw type in modern electronics, and the foldable case keeps everything organised. Useful from day one.

Common occasions: birthdays, Father's Day, Christmas, graduation, housewarming.
